Polling Station - School Closed for children
Dear Parents and Carers
We are very sorry to have to inform you that over the Easter holidays we received communication that unfortunately our school is being used as a Polling Station for European Elections on the 23rd May 2019.
This means the school will be closed for two days this term for polling which we are incredibly disappointed and frustrated about. As I know we have informed you before, last year we asked the Children's Centre to host the election so that we did not have to close the school for the day and although we asked the same this year, we have been informed this is not possible.
We have been told that there will be a review of the polling stations in the summer and we have already voiced our strong opinion that a different venue must be used. We have requested an email address to share with parents so that they can contact the electoral services to share their concerns and complaints about the school being used as a polling station. We would be very grateful if you could voice your opinion on this via email to email@example.com.
We are therefore really sorry to have to inform you that the school will be closed on that day unless there is a late decision to stop the European Elections. If this causes your family significant difficulties due to childcare please contact the school office so that we can see if there is anyway we can support you.
Once again, we are very sorry that this has happened and want to reassure you we are doing everything we can to have the school's role as a polling station changed.
